Sequim Picklers Round Robin (aka Big Dill), August 8, 2019

The Big Dill was a big deal.  Lots of laughter, wonderful audience cheering on the players, yummy snacks, and lots of amazing games played by our novice players, 2.5 and below.  Read all about it in the Big Dill Recap.

The 3rd Annual Pickleball Boys & Girls Club Summer Camp with Clinics and Competition was run this past week, July 22-26, Monday through Friday.  Ben Sanders, our DOCO, ran this weeklong clinic with help from Arvo.  The BGC indicated this was one of the most successful programs this year.  The biggest by count, 89 participants, single program run in the gym for 2019 to date.

Lighting Project-Boys & Girls Club July 2019

Charlie P, Robert O, Wayne S, and Annette H opened boxes of lights, handed items up, ran errands, etc. Gary P did all the high lift work, removing old tube lights and installing 120 new LED lights into 20 ceiling fixtures (that’s 6 per). Members donated 70 tubes and the Club 50. They also raised the climbing net more out of the way.

Also, Gary went back Sunday and disconnected the fixture sensors (on the lift) so the lights would remain on when turned on. Their director favored that, too. Photos by Annette Hanson.

Sequim Picklers Donate $2,000 to Sequim Family Advocates as a token thank you for allowing the Sequim Picklers to “piggy back” on their non-profit status during our financial campaign to fund building the new pickleball courts at Carrie Blake Park.  Their generosity saved thousands of dollars and contributed very much to the Sequim Pickler’s success.  With their help, we were able to obtain grants and receive donations that would otherwise not have been possible.
People in the photos are Arvo Johnson – President of the Sequim Picklers, Kim Rosales – Sequim Family Advocates Treasurer, Michael McAleer – Sequim Family Advocates Board Member, Dave Shreffler – Sequim Family Advocates President and Sequim Pickler member1/9/19

2018 Coeur d’ Alene Classic – August

Each member of our family won a medal today at a pickleball tournament in Coer d’Alene.Doug: bronze in 5.0 men’s singles.  Allison and McKenna: silver in 4.5 women’s doubles and played together.  Kendall: gold in 4.5 women’s doubles and beat up on her mom and sister! Julie Miller was Kendall’s partner and they were a tough team!  It is an awesome feeling to be able to play a sport with and against family members……except when Kendall rips a forehand at you!  Photos and text by Allison Hastings.
